Four quadrant painter#3300

?

I really miss from the original Shapez the painter that allows you to paint four-quadrants of a shape simultaneously, with four different colors.

I really would like to see some more of the old Shapez items like this in the new game

This suggestion on Steam (https://steamcommunity.com/app/2162800/discussions/4/4629232489537303379/) has a nice idea of using a shape signal as a mask when painting. To control where the paint is applied by a painter. Fun idea on its own, but, I only mention it because it gave me an idea which relates to this suggestion…

It made me think that could be used for the quad painter as its control signal, if it is added, which I hope it will be. The quad painter in Shapez 1 had 4 wire inputs, one per quarter, starting top-right and going around clockwise. In Shapez 2, it could instead be a single wire input with a shape signal and the 4 separate truthy values are determined by looking at the shape’s top-right, and then around clockwise, with each specifying whether to paint that quarter by having a shape piece there. If it’s empty (a “gap”), then that’s falsey.

So, the building would still need one shape input, four paint inputs, but would only require one wire input instead of the four Shapez 1 used. I think this would make it much more compatible with Shapez 2, which doesn’t have a “wire layer”.

A great design to achieving this could have a 2 Layer Painter (similar to how Stacker is)

4 Pipes come from above the painting Location, connect to the Pipe from above, then Paints 4 Items across on the bottom, would create a different way of handling Painting Blueprints forsure
