
I think the pipette should be more powerful and intuitive. Here are two specific improvements I’d suggest:
Pipetting with no target: If you use the pipette while not pointing at any object, it should recall and select the last item that was pipetted or selected.
Handling ambiguous cases: In situations where multiple items could be selected, the pipette should allow cycling through the possible options.
For example, when pipetting a foundation in space build mode, it could refer to either:
the empty foundation, or
the foundation along with all the buildings placed on it.
Currently, it only copies the empty foundation. Instead, the pipette should let you cycle through both variants by repeatedly pressing it on the same spot - first selecting the empty foundation, then the full version with buildings, and so on.
