With the new shapes and colors the train logistics need to use parallel rails. Next to each other or above is up the player but the number of locomotives limits us to use the same track.
I have found five suggestion about extending trains in some way (#15, #1218, #3339, #5024) but I’m sure there are more that mention this.
Adding one more locomotive won’t solve this problem unless we could configure it similarly to the signal producer.
The configuration options could be
Rail Configurator needs a black version too in order to work.
These could be a separate shop item after the white locomotive, part of the Train Vortex Delivery Milestone or a separate one since this should be a late game content.
But it creates a problem with how to indicate it on the rails like it is done with colored arrows and lines. If the black train is used as a plain train a black arrow (with a white outline since the rail is dark) would do. But if it has a number, code or icon it would need an extra pop up window like the signal producer in the top right corner to configure the black locomotives and rail configurators.
Since the wagon unloader and transfer stations have this kind of extra window too to select which belt level we want to use this new window wouldn’t stick out either.

It would also be a good visual aid and solution for this problem if we could select the locomotive and use the ‘Select Connected’ keybinding, highlighting the rails where the train goes.
