Katyusha?!#5262

?

Lithuanian here. This achievement name is in extremely poor taste.
‘Katyusha’ isn’t some innocent Soviet song — it’s actively weaponized in Russian propaganda right now, including performances in the ruins of occupied Mariupol and as a glorification of their military aggression. Giving this name to a rocket-launching achievement in a peaceful factory-building game is tone-deaf, insensitive, and outright inappropriate.
Shapez is an otherwise excellent game, but this kind of reference has no business being in it. The developers should rename this achievement immediately. Very disappointing to still see this in 2026.

Why this is a problem

  • “Katyusha” refers to both a Soviet WWII song and — more importantly today — the nickname of the Soviet BM-13 multiple rocket launcher.
  • The song is actively used in modern Russian state propaganda to glorify military aggression.
  • It has been performed in the ruins of the bombed Mariupol Drama Theatre and is frequently used in occupied territories.
  • For players from Lithuania, Ukraine, Poland, and other countries affected by Russian/Soviet actions, this name carries very painful associations — especially while Russia continues daily rocket attacks on Ukraine.

A relaxing factory-building game is the last place where we should encounter names tied to real-world weapons and current war propaganda.

Proposed Solutions

  • Best option: Rename the achievement to something neutral and fun that fits the game’s theme, for example:
    • “Rocket Man”
    • “Orbital Delivery”
    • “Trade Fleet”
    • “Skyrocket”
    • “Mass Exporter”
  • Replace it with a generic “Trading Rocket” reference without real-world connections.
  • Remove the achievement entirely as a last resort.

This would be a very small change but would show that the developers care about making the game welcoming for all players.

Thank you for your hard work on Shapez 2. I hope you consider this feedback.

Looking forward to your response!
